Detoxifying Lymph Candy Deodorant – going beyond stopping odour and wetness

During a recent visit to FAD Market on a rainy early summer Sunday morning, I picked up a couple of interesting and small batch skin care products.

FAD Market is a roving Fashion, Art and Design pop-up market that travels seasonally to unique venues in the vibrant borough of Brooklyn, NY.

One of the products I explored at the market is a Detoxifying Lymph Candy Deodorant.

The lovely couple Megan and Pierre are from Brooklyn themselves and have started making their deodorant in the anticipation of the arrival of their first child. Pierre has done extensive research on the benefits of the lymphatic system that is able to detoxify the body properly. Very interesting how much the proper functioning of the lymphatic system affects overall health. Megan and Pierre say on their website: “The name Lymph Candy comes from our desire to create products that go beyond just stopping odour and wetness, to also taking into account how the right underarm product can help your body detox properly.”

Ingredients

All of their deodorants have only a maximum of 6 ingredients, which are

  • Coconut Oil
of course organic, of high quality and cold pressed. Check my previous article about the benefits of coconut oil HERE
  • Baking Soda
that is Aluminum-free and promotes alkalinity in the body. very effective in fighting bacteria and absorbing odours (that is why people put baking soda in their fridges)
  • Arrowroot
helps to absorb wetness. In cosmetics it is often used in body powders.
  • Essential Oils
    for different the scents of
Lavender, which has soothing and balancing properties
Lemongrass for purification, stimulation, and cleansing.
    Geranium benefits soothing.
Cedar wood for stress relief, strengthening, and empowering.
And Eucalyptus for revitalisation, invigoration, and clarification.
  • Candelilla Wax
comes from the leaves of a small shrub called Candelilla, that is native in Northern Mexico and the Southwest of the US
  • Diatomaceous Earth
has been used for cleansing the digestive tract due to its ability to absorb bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and fungi. Additionally it helps in removing pesticides, heavy metals, and drug residues.

Product Variety

  • Lymph Candy deodorants are available in multiple scents, depending on the essential oil used
  • in the three different strengths regular, extra, and sensitive
  • available in two sizes standard and travel

My Experience with Lymph Candy

I have picked the travel size (14 gr. or 0.5 oz) regular strength unscented version.

I always opt for unscented products when available, as I feel I do not want to mix too many different scents in my products. Between facial care, body care, shampoo, and deodorant, one can create quite a mix of scents that may not go well together.

The travel size is great for, well you guessed it, travelling. The shape of the stick is slim and rather square, which is way more space saving compared to round shapes.

When I apply the product, it is rather sticky at first, however ‘melts’ easily on body temperature.

As for its effectiveness, I am satisfied. I am using the product during a leisurely stay in very hot temperatures (between 80 and 100 Fahrenheit, or let’s say 25 to 35 Celsius). I apply the deodorant about twice a day for best result.

Having said that, I do not have any experience of using the product in what I call a ‘business’ setting. Like wearing a crisp dress shirt and suit for example and being nervous before giving a presentation.

Conclusion

I like it, I use it, and I can only recommend everyone reading this article to try out healthier options when it comes to deodorants. Some may not be sufficient for those special occasions where we need ‘waterproof’, but choosing and using more natural or even detoxifying deodorant products gives you a break from those health harming, cancer causing, Aluminum containing mass products.
